We are seeing an increase in the number of importers incurring exorbitant local charges on LCL cargo shipped on C&F/CIF terms to Australia, particularly from Asia where suppliers may be receiving hidden kick back incentives.
This results in the importer paying the overseas charges (that the supplier should cover) disguised as other fees.
To eliminate the risk of this happening, CFL encourages importers to change their buying terms to FOB so that they can control the shipping and hence the charges.
