Vessel and Port Delays
Vessel and Port Delays
We just wanted to update you again on the current situation with the terminals, as there are still many delays being incurred which is seriously affecting the whole supply chain.
While the cyber-attack on DP world has largely been resolved, there are still lingering delays associated with the back log of containers that were caught up in this shut down. Compounding this issue is the ongoing protected industrial action at DP World with constant stoppages and work bans severely delaying seafreight cargo. Due to these continual disruptions at DP World, many carriers are trying to divert their vessels to other terminals, this is also causing delays at these terminals now with vessels being held up in a queue waiting for an opening to berth. Carriers are also having to change their port rotations to try and avoid delays with some vessels even skipping various ports altogether.
Sad to say, this situation continues to get worse with vessel arrival dates constantly changing and being pushed back time and time again with very little notice being given from any of the carriers. On top of this, the majority of the terminals will be closed this Tuesday from 10am to 2pm, so that all staff can attend the MUA’s AGM, which will obviously cause further delays at all terminals. Then to add more disruptions to services from China, the carriers are continuing to implement blank sailings to keep space and equipment in short supply so that they can keep pushing through freight increases.
We are endeavouring to try and keep everyone updated on each vessel as best we can and please contact your usual CFL representative for more detailed information on your shipment if needed
